Before Olivia went to withdraw Lillie from the tournament, Moon decided to participate in her place. Lillie was grateful for Nebby's rescue and decided to resign from the festival. Moon and Nebby were saved by Tapu Koko, who immediately flew off. Nebby released a force, which caused the Spearow to fly off and the bridge to crash. Since Lillie was too afraid and had no other Pokémon to defend Nebby, Moon went to get Nebby and had Rowlet battle the Spearow.
She found it on a bridge, being surrounded by Spearow. However, her Nebby escaped her bag and floated away, so Lillie went to find it. Lillie tried to explain she actually didn't want to participate and wanted to resign. As Olivia and Moon were distributing malasada for the participants, they encountered Lillie.

Lillie was one of the participants for the Full Force Festival. The stand lady thought she wanted to participate in the Full Force festival and enlisted her, despite Lillie's refusals. Lillie, while passing by a stand, tried to calm down Nebby in her bag. Later, Lillie, was found unconscious, on a beach, by Professor Burnet, three months before the Full Force Festival started. Lillie took her Cosmog, Nebby, away, after learning about her mother's dark plans to summon the Ultra Beasts by opening portals. Thus, Lusamine had her wear new clothes, to prevent anything "hideous" being near her, and reminded Lillie not to embarrass her. Lillie's mother approached her daughter, and was disgusted by the clothes Lillie wore. While he cared deeply for his family, he was not being able to remember where they were located. It made Lusamine very sad, thinking her husband didn't care for them or the Aether Foundation, but, as it turned out, Lillie's father was somewhere else, but suffered from amnesia. The name Lillie originates from "lily" as her white dress resembles the white petals of a lily flower as well as the name following the plant-based naming of characters.Ī long time ago, Lusamine's husband abandoned her and her children. In return, Gladion encourages Lillie to be her true self in front of their mother, and Lillie becomes more confident and sure of herself. Though she didn't like his way of handling the threat of the Ultra Beast, she was able to convince Gladion that it's okay to accept help from others. Lillie appears to be very fond of her brother Gladion, and made her way to a dangerous battle to be reunited with him.
Thus, she becomes upset if someone compliments her look, and as noted by Sun, she looks like a doll. Lillie also has a phobia about her appearance, for her mother forced her to wear the pristine clothes.

She tends to cry and apologize profusely whenever she has upset someone. Lillie is originally seen as timid and nervous, mostly due to her not being a competent battler and trying to keep Nebby safe. She also wears a pink backpack with a white ribbon and white penny loafers with white ankle socks. She stops wearing her hat, instead restyling her hair as a ponytail tied together with a braid. As later revealed, Lusamine made the choice of Lillie's dress for her, likely with the intent of resembling a Nihilego given her obsession with that species of Ultra Beast.Īfter realizing her mother is too far gone to listen to reason, she temporarily changes her outfit to a white sailor-like shirt with a blue ribbon and a very short white miniskirt with a light blue line.
